Client:  Boral Limited
Project: 1Boral Health and Safety Management System

This project consisted of consolidating varying OHS systems and procedures across four divisions of the company into one. In order to meet a stringent timeframe for the project, Boral engaged the services of three technical writing firms and work began in October 2010. By the middle of December Dawtek was the only firm still on the project. Utilising the talents of all staff at Dawtek, we re-wrote, edited and proofed 60 OHS procedures and developed 112 supporting forms by the end of January. Consistency and accuracy is a major part of a project of this nature and the client was extremely impressed with Dawtek’s tenacity, professional manner and exceptional output. Following a Boral review of the work to date the next stage of the project will continue in March with employee trials and consultations from April to June, and final implementation of the new OHS Group Procedures in July 2011. We look forward to a continued working relationship with Boral on further company-wide projects.

Client:  Toll Transitions
Project: TMS Case User Manual

Dawtek developed a user manual for a new software application called TMS CASE, which is to be used by Toll Transitions staff to perform all actions associated with managing a relocation. The manual includes a step-by-step guide on using TMS Case as well as an overview of Business Processes. Writing the document required a lot of assistance from Toll Transitions staff as the system was only in a testing environment and scenarios had to be manipulated in order to get screen shots and determine the steps in each process. Work flows that drive the system were not able to be included for functionality not yet implemented, and the document scope had to be altered to match workarounds which were put in place to meet the scheduled system release date. The project involved over 100 hours of meetings, demonstrations, development, editing, screen shots, reviews and updates to complete the manual. Dawtek met all agreed deadlines and the client was extremely pleased with the final outcome.

Project: User Manual and Workbook for AgiGater3 software application

Dawtek assisted DPI staff in the design, editing and formatting of the User Manual and associated training Workbook for a new software system which will be made available to the farming community of Victoria. Dawtek was able to test the step-by-step processes to ensure clarity and readability. The high number of screen images included in the documents produced large files which were a challenge to the logistics of the review process. Dawtek was vigilant in maintaining consistency in the documents in light of continual system refinements and modifications. The document development took five months as this incorporated several builds of the application and reviews of the associated instructions. The guides will be available for download and also printed for distribution with the software.
