This is a question I get asked a lot. I always answer in the same way. Leaning to write winning tenders is a skill. That’s why it’s worth learning to do it, rather than winging it.

Tender writing is not intuitive. It’s not like going to the pokies, putting a few coins in a slot and hoping for the best. And unfortunately too many great businesses lose growth opportunities because their growth strategy relies on luck.

Unless you actually understand what’s behind writing a tender, your tender wins will come down to luck. I don’t know about you, but a few lucky wins is not the most reliable growth strategy.

Understanding strategy

Putting together a robust tender response that really puts you in the running to win business is one that has been strategically planned. It will have been built by following a road map that is informed by the overarching business strategy, a depth of knowledge of your potential client and specialised knowledge about the market that you trade in.

Doing tender training provides the scaffolding for your growth strategy. Understanding the mechanics of how to write a great tender means that you have the scaffolding and you can build around it with your expert knowledge. It’s knowing what to put in, and what to leave out.

Knowing Best Practice

Tender training will provide you with the latest, most up to date knowledge on best practice for bid and tender writing; it will make sure that your tender-writing skills aren’t the barrier between your business remaining stagnant or your business growing.

It really can be as simple as that. You may have the best experts in your field, the most cutting edge product, or dynamic service available, but if you don’t know how to write a tender response properly those things that are great about your organisation aren’t worth much.

What you’ll learn

By the end of your tender training you will be able to:

  • Confidently answer all the questions in the RFP
  • Understand what your win themes are and use them to highlight the benefits to your potential clients
  • Write compelling text in plain English that is accessible to the buying panel, senior executives and other relevant decision makers
  • Write a response that speaks to the client’s needs, rather than one that just presents your credentials
  • Learn how to identify gaps in your response
  • Methods for laying out and presenting your response
  • Understand how to tailor a tender strategy for each individual tender response
  • Learn how to draw together multiple contributions to create a compelling and persuasive response
  • How to recognise great and not so great opportunities for your business.

Specifically for SMEs

I designed this training specifically with small businesses in mind – it’s people like me that I want to help. Having started my own business from nothing, I wanted to create something that would make a meaningful difference to other small businesses. I know what works and what doesn’t when it comes to growing a small business. It’s tough out there when you’re coming up against large corporates, so I wanted to share my own strategies for cutting through the inequities in such a competitive market.

The case for online training

Online tender training in particular, is a great way to learn – it’s self-paced, it’s written by an expert that you know you can trust, and provides on-going support after you’ve finished the course. Lifetime access to the content and to me, it is a winning strategy. My tender training also provides a closed Facebook group where you can pose your questions long after you’ve completed the course.

Dawtek offers self-paced online tender training course which cover the nuts and bolts of tender writing, and everything in between. I’ve been writing winning tenders for nearly 20 years and all my cumulative knowledge is packaged up neatly to help your business go from strength to strength.
