If you’re feeling unsure about all things tenders, it might be worth considering some tender training or an online course.

We’re also on social media so we’d love to connect with you via our Facebook or LinkedIn pages.

And don’t forget about our closed Facebook group The Tender Hub – learn more.

Kristine Daw is the Managing Director of Dawtek, a Melbourne-based company specialising in tenders and proposals, tender training, copywriting, editing and creating business templates. Kristine and her small team have a range of clients including small businesses, multi-national corporations, all levels of government and not-for-profits.

Many people mistakenly believe that you need to pay for access to tender opportunities, but this isn’t right. You just need to know where to look. Once you’ve done your market research and you know where you sit in the market, you can seriously consider some of these open tender opportunities. If the thought of getting a slice of untapped pie motivates you, then sky is the limit.

The best place to start are the government websites. While many businesses turn their nose up at government contracts, they are a great source of reliable income. So why not take a look and see what prospects might be a good fit for your organisation.

The Australian Government

The Australian Government has a website, AusTenders, dedicated to procurement.  This covers every product or service the Australian Government need. From providing fabric for Australian Defence Force Uniforms, through to security services, roof safety systems, communications – the list goes on. But my point is, it’s highly likely that there will be something on their that fits with your business and your strategy. You can register your business here and you’ll be notified of opportunities that fir your business profile.

ICN Business Network

ICN is another great site that allows you to register and be matched with upcoming tender opportunities. It is independently run but supported financially by the Australian and state governments. Projects within their scope span all across Australia and New Zealand.

State Governments

Each state government has their own tenders site and you will need to register with each one individually. If you’re not interested in Australia-wide work, you can just register with your home state. Here are the links to each one:

A Couple of Other Places

A great and very cost-effective notification service is Australian Tenders. Dawtek partners with Australian Tenders. All subscribers receive a $100 discount to Dawtek products.

A couple of non-government sites worth looking at include Tenders.net. This is a free service that offers thousands of opportunities, but there is also the option to upgrade to a paid subscription. If you want to find more tailored opportunities Dawtek can help you look in the right places.

If you’re ready to expand your business and take on some new opportunities, I can help you with everything from finding the right tenders for your business, through to showing you how to write a tender from start to finish. For more information on how I can help you drop me an email or give me a call.
